I went into one of your branches jut a little while ago. I had received a Christmas check from my brother today and since I needed the cash and my bank was too far away, I figured I'd go to you to cash it.
Imagine my surprise and disgust when, after going through all kinds of red tape, you charged me 5 bucks to cash that check! Mind you, I've cashed checks from both my brother and my dad at your banks before and I have NEVER been charged for the service.
If that wasn't enough, y'all had the nerve to give me the receipt and tell me that if I opened an account within 7 days, I could get that 5 bucks back! Um, thanks but no thanks.
What on earth were you thinking when you came up with THAT scheme? Let me guess:
Well since we screwed ourselves and got absorbed by someone else, what can we do to get some money back? Oh, I know! Let's charge non-members to cash checks and THEN tell them that the fee will no longer be held hostage as long as they open an account! Splendid! Could you please pass the pate'?
Some common sense would go a long way here, people. In the meantime, you can take my fiver and stick it where the sun don't shine.
Thanks,
