Pamela Latrimore is a 42-year-old wife and mother without insurance. She has had cervical cancer; she suffers from fibroidmyalgia, asthma, seizures, liver problems, ulcers and a variety of other ailments. Latrimore feels she is dying. She hadn’t ever looked at her 2002 MRI scans so she had no idea what her Catholic sister-in-law was talking about a few week ago when she proclaimed; “Oh my gosh, Pam you have Mother Mary in your head.”
When Latrimore looked, it did look like Mary. There was dark spot as in a bent head in between the two hemispheres of her brain. Lightened areas looked like wings of light rising on either side of her. “I know this is where it sounds crazy,” Latrimore said, “But I pray, I am fighting for my life, so every time I go in to these machines I pray.”
For Latrimore, the image of Mary in her scan is a sign God is listening to her prayers. Now, Latrimore and her construction worker husband are hoping that Mary will help again, only this time they want her to help them raise the money for her medical expenses. In order to do that, she is planning to auction off the MRI film with Mary’s image in it on eBay. She said she has no choice. She doesn’t even know if this film is something important or something that she needs but what she really needs right now is money.
Pamela Latrimore is hopeful that her MRI film will help her raise money. She recalls that 2004 eBay auction of a toasted cheese sandwich with Mary’s image on it that was sold for $28,000. If that sandwich can do that well, she is only hoping that her MRI would help her raise at least some amount of money that could be used to pay the bills. Latrimore believes that Mary will understand she has been sold before. So, she is auctioning off Mother Mary again.
