Trump to site home at golf resort
US tycoon Donald Trump has announced he is to make his Scottish family home at his controversial £1bn Aberdeenshire golf resort.
The property tycoon is to convert Menie House on the Menie Estate near Balmedie into a personal residence.
He has hired a number of local companies to renovate and restore the 14th Century building.
Mr Trump's spokesman George Sorial said his employer was looking forward to spending a lot of time in Scotland.
Business leaders have predicted the area could start reaping the economic benefits of the golf project's approval - which angered environmental objectors - within months.
Mr Trump's plan to build two golf courses, as well as hundreds of homes, has caused division for more than two years.
The plan was called in by the Scottish Government after it was rejected by an Aberdeenshire Council committee.
Finance Secretary John Swinney backed it after a public local inquiry.
He said the Trump Organisation would need to make sure sand dunes and wildlife on the estate at Menie were properly protected.
