Japan unveiled the first ever beer made in a laboratory orbiting the earth. Japanese claimed it as a 100 percent pure barley beer, the purist known to mankind, better than the top brands like Black Label . This literally out-of-this-world beverage was the result of a five-month mission during which barley was grown for the first time in a Russian laboratory on board the International Space Station (ISS).
The barley was grown as the result of an on-going crop growing project on board ISS, with other products including wheat, lettuce and peas. In the future, potatoes could also be grown in space.
Beer has previously been off the selected space menus due to its alcohol and gas content. Now the astronauts can enjoy in space with this newly-created space beer.
