Manila, Philippines - The recent terrorist attacks in the financial and commercial district of Mumbai, India which claimed the lives of almost 200 people which composed mostly civilians (foreign and local tourists) and some military and police personnels. The attacks which left about 300 others seriously injured was readily condemned by the Philippine Goverment, officials here said.

These attacks was described by President Arroyo as "barbaric acts" and uncalled for, this are unforgivable acts against humanity and should be taken seriously, she said. The President has called upon her fellow Asian leaders to work together hand in hand to fight regional terrorism in Asia. The splurge of acts like this can hamper regional development and stability among neighboring Asian countries, a closer ties and a more developed intelligence sharing and gathering should be implemented.

She stated that these attacks in India was not just a fly by night operation or attack but a highly organized and synchronized terroristic attack, which was carefully planned and executed, the chain of events was fast which left the India authorities emptyhanded, thats why it escalated to such degree. So she ordered the Armed forces Chief General Yano to intensify military operations in Mindanao to halt possible sympathy attacks from the MILF renegade groups and the Abu Sayyaf in Sulu. Authorities here has implemented tighter security measures to various goverment and military installations throughout the country, to include the financial and banking districts of Makati and Pasig. A heightened alert status of the National Police was executed to boost up police visibility in places where people gather like malls and public markets. - by Agmamayo
