Changing attitudes of students towards teachers

There was a time when teaching was considered to be the most respectable profession but I am not quite sure if this point in time, that statement still exists or not. A teacher plays the first most important role in a student's brought up after his or her parents, because it is the teacher who has the patience to correct where a student goes wrong over and over again until he learns. This patience then hands the right to the teacher of teaching him what he needs to learn through scolding which usually comes at a later stage when the student does not learn otherwise. The point here is when you gain your knowledge from a source, that source ought not to be disrespected. It is that source that has enhanced your comprehension and civilized you to an extend that you succeed in life.

Long are gone such times when teachers were given respect like that. Today, students do not give a ‘crap' about whether they learn or not. They are just attending school because it has become more or less like a ritual as a status symbol that you have to get educated provided that you can afford to. They go around the world to gain education just so they have a stamp on themselves that says ‘Educated'. Period.

First they don't listen to what their teachers have to teach them; second if they are scolded for not paying attention, they get offended and misbehave in response. Lastly, when the teacher finally gets sick of being humiliated in front of other students for scolding with a rightful reason and tells him to leave the class, he feels even more insulted and approaches the authority and complains about how he has been snubbed in front of a whole lot of his classmates. The irony is, such behaviors of students are supported by their parents when consulted. They come up with the lamest excuses that how the scolding and insulting has discouraged the child even more and he does not want to come to school anymore and that scolding is not the best way to teach him what he needs to learn. Little do they know that there is no way of handling such brats other than scolding them and making them learn by hook or by crook. And if God forbid, such students have to apologize to the teacher for their own wrong behavior, it becomes such an ego issue for them that they would rather prefer quitting school.

Such behavior should not be encouraged by parents. They should teach their children how to show respect to their teachers because it is because of their hard work and knowledge that students learn from in the end. Teachers should be given the respect they deserve. It is the least a student can do in return of what he gains from the knowledge of a teacher.

Another great report! I really enjoy reading your reports, although im still wondering why so little views on some of them!

You know, i can relate to much of what you have discussed in here. The mention of ego is so true. And it applies to so much more! But then again, it took me 26 years to come to grips with reality...

I am still in school trying to get my education, and it makes me sad that so many people (and i was one of them for a long time), come here to simply get a peace of paper.

And going back to the whole ego thing... it took me some time to realize this but... humanity has been manipulated into fighting the wrong enemy. We fight each other, disagree, and feel superior to each other while the real enemy lurks deep down inside our own minds.

Nice report.
