Former Philippine House of Representatives speaker Jose De Venecia Jr. is furious about the cancellation of his scheduled book launch at the Philippine Center in New York, and he suspects Presiden Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is behind it all.

The book launch is supposed to take place next week. but De Venecia got a call from his wife, Gina, telling him the Philippine Center had cancelled his booking. Ambassador to the United Nations Willy Gaa had issued a memorandum to his effect. De Venecia denounced the move as a clear case of harrassment, after he testified Monday about how Arroyo is directly involved in several questionable government contracts.

The Philippine Center on New York;s 5th Avenue houses the Philippine permanent mission to the UN. De Venecia is now looking for another location in New York to launch his book.
