A 26 year-old man in a wheelchair was stabbed and robbed on Surprise Street last Sunday morning. The victim James Del Rio, of Phoenix was treated at Banner E. Webb Medical Centre in Sun City West for four stabs, and later released.
He recounted the incident to Surprise police that he was in his wheelchair going north on Parkview near Mountain View Boulevard about 12:30 a.m., when a white four-door car stopped next to him. Del Rio told the police that a man came out of the rear-passenger door and stabbed him four times in the right arm. He further told the police that there were two other men in the vehicle during the attack.
The victim said that after stabbing him brutally, the man took off with his back-pack. Inside the backpack were a urinal container and a bandana. The police said that the victim later on made his way to a friend’s apartment complex from where they called the police.
I sometimes wonder, what is safe nowadays? A poor man on a wheelchair was stabbed and then robbed of his very own urine! Now, this is ridiculous. Even the muggers are getting way too creepy these days. I would say keep that pepper spray in your bag all the time. Who knows when it comes in handy!
