“Men are dogs!” a statement that has almost completed its journey from being a plain judgment to being a fact. It is not just a general thought from a feminist point of view or a means to offend men, but there is definitely a connection somewhere between the two. A connection of similarities and ways of reacting towards actions.
You take your dog out on a leash for a walk and even after months of training, it would resist your instructions of relieving itself in public. And it often happens, you see a man answering the call of nature on the side of a road and you wonder, who does he remind you of? A dog? Your dog? Or your man?
At other times, when you are sitting on your comfortable couch, reading a magazine or watching TV, your dog would be chewing on your shoe to get your attention. When you would yell at it for not irritating you like that, it would make those cute little noises trying to convey that its apologizing for behaving badly, now wouldn’t that remind you of your man after you have a fight and the way he tries to make up for it being similar to your pet?
Another known fact about dogs is how they are so over protective about you while you are surrounded with strangers. Doesn’t your man do the same when, say you are all dressed and at a fancy dinner with a lot better looking men staring you from head to toe trying to scan through while conveying what is going on in their heads?
It is not just stereo-typing. Some men would be better groomed and better eaters but they are only broadly ‘some’ of them. The similarities between a man and a dog that are mentioned above help understand how men are like dogs and behave better with the leash in your hand. It is not a man’s world out there anymore, after all.
