People Celebrate by Conceiving "Obama Babies"

Some Americans have been so consumed by passions following Obama's historic victory that they resorted to celebratory sex soon after the announcement. The Internet has already hailed the children who will join us in July 2009 as the "Obama Babies". The term has already found a home on urbandictionary.com, the Gospel for netizens.

Evidence of this phenomenon can be found on Twitter where euphoric couples have candidly and sometimes graphically described their plans for the night following the elections.

Social scientists compare the response to other historic occasions where we have seen a surge in births such as when couples were finding solace following the tradgedy of 9-11. That was referred to as "terror sex".

Don't be surprised if the red states aren't exactly booming with fresh life next summer. One disgusted man on Twitter says his wife and he will wait till 2012 to give it a shot. Another disgruntled person suggested he would be getting an Obama vasectomy in preparation for tax hikes that would preclude him raising an additional child.

The mood is more uniformly ebullient half a world away in Kenya where mothers are proudly naming their newborns Barack Obama. The United States may be polarized but the rest of the world seems to find the joy more universal.
