Yvonne Ridley, the newly Muslim British lady Journalist left for Kabul on Thursday. Taliban had detained her probably in 2001 in Afghanistan. She had been in their custody for quite some time as she had gone there without legal documents to know about the realities and Taliban and their rigidity. Yvonne Ridley, the British lady journalist told this scribe that Taliban had treated her in the jail very kindly, as she was their sister. So she said that she was really impressed from the manners of Taliban and embraced Islam that is a religion of peace, brotherhood. The British lady journalist said that she was going to Kabul to collect exact information about the whereabouts of the Muslim women and children prisoners who have been languishing in different jails in Afghanistan under American troops’ atrocities. She was hopeful about the safe release of Dr.Afia Sedique but suggested that Pakistani government should put some pressure on the US government. Yvonne Ridley said that Americans were not trusted people.

She was grieved when she heard about the human rights violations in the Pakistani tribal areas. While coming from Peshawar on the way to Pak Afghan Torkham border, she herself saw the broken bridges and the hanging historic railway track, which were destroyed last year on 28 June 2007 by flash floods. Yvonne Ridley observed that the tribal areas seem as though in the last sixty years the rulers have not invested any thing for the development of these areas. She expressed her sympathies and commiserations with the poverty struck people of tribal areas. The write was along with her in the car from Peshawar to Torkham border until she was said farewell on the Torkham border. Yvonne Ridley enjoyed very much to see the historic areas of the tribal belt and the hospitable and peace loving people of FATA.She was wonder struck when she could not see any gun or rifle with any tribal man on the long distance except some armed Taliban with long hair and turbans on their heads. She also knew about the good and bad Taliban in the tribal areas of Pakistan. The good Taliban are those who fight for the independence of Afghanistan from Americans. She said that the good Taliban have read in religious seminaries. She also observed that Barack Obama might prove better for the tribal region.

Good report from Sudhir. I am concerned about the lady's safety in view of what happened to Dr Aafia. One can only hope that she has informed the UK embassy about her visit and that she is escorted by reliable people all the way.
