SAN FRANCISCO,CA,--When word hit the San Francisco Castro District that Barack Obama is the President elect, a person came out of a bar with an American flag wrapped around his body and started to dance in the street. Within minutes, it seemed, the street was full of people yelling, dancing, hugging, and started a chant, "...Obama, Obama, Obama!"

Cars that were on the street, moving, began to hunk their horns. The noise was so loud that, when you talked, you could not be heard. A person was standing near a door with tears running down his cheek. A lady standing next to him, handed him a handkerchief and walked away disappearing into the crowd. An elderly lady, walking up the street, dodging other people, was saying, "...we did it! "...we did it!...we did it!

Looking out among the people that flooded the street, you are surprised how fast these people appeared. Question: Were did they come from? It always been this way, when something involves the Castro area hundreds of people appear to support it, or not support it.

This was the first celebration for tonight. If Proposition 8 fails, you can count on another celebration, tonight, on Castro Street.

So, lets face it, this is the way Castro area is: The people in the Castro area walk to their own beat of the music, and you can not change it.

A person was asked: " Why are you celebrating?" She said, "I don't know, but it's fun!"
