The electoral map as of 9:15pm AZ time

As of now, NBC has called the 2008 US presidential race for Barack Obabma. Unlike when the race was called in 2000, this call is being echoed across the other major news networks as well.

As of this hour, it looks like he has at least 284 electoral votes.

For the first time, the US has a black president. For the first time in almost 2 decades, the White House will have young children living there. The elation showing on the faces of people in Grant Park is just amazing.

Channel 12 in Phoenix AZ interviewed John Kyle just moments ago. In that interview, done prior to the declaration, Kyle practically admitted that there was no way for McCain to win the election.

Truly one of the MOST memorable and moving elections I've ever witnessed! I have felt that my generation would never see such an historic event, but I'm so proud, and excited about the changes happening in our country!!

With all the optimism of a true supporter of Senator Barack Obama, I also give kudos to Senator McCain for his amazing and gracious concession speech. He gained a few more respect points from me again for his marvelous comments.

I too was very impressed with McCain's concession speech. It was very noble, very generous, and very heartfelt. I especially appreciated that he called the boo-ers in the audience on their bad manners.

NBC just announced that Bush has called and congratulated Obama as well. That shows more grace than I thought he had too.

Today, I am proud to be an American.

(Electoral vote count as of now? 333 to 155. Nice to see that the split isn't as deep as feared.)
