In the early days of Allvoices, The Punditty Project decided to have a go at counting down the top 10 television characters in secondary or lesser roles. The final choices all came from programs that aired during Punditty’s TV-watching prime – and Punditty did most of his TV-watching from the late 1960s through the early 1980s.

With that in mind, it’s easy to understand why the Punditty enjoys watching Me-TV as an (alleged) adult. The fast-growing network offers “memorable entertainment television” (thus Me-TV) and bills itself as “the definitive destination for classic TV.” Without a doubt, there will be a lot of NCAA basketball on at The Pundittio over the next few weeks, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be time for Me-TV, too – especially with “Me Madness” piggybacking on the spirit of March Madness. After all, you don’t have to bounce a ball to have your own set of brackets.

Me-TV’s contest includes 64 classic TV shows vying for the title of Most Memorable. The single-elimination tournament kicks off Monday and runs through April 6. The winner will be announced April 7 – the same day of the NCAA tournament’s National Championship Game.

All you have to do is get in on the fun is create an account at the Me-TV website and make your picks. Full instructions can be found here.

The NCAA tournament is sure to feature its share of interesting first-round matchups, but some of the pairings in the Me-TV brackets are nothing short of riveting. The clash between “Hogan’s Heroes” and “Get Smart” figures to be a hard-fought battle of epic proportions, much like the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier prizefights of yesteryear. Both shows are clearly good enough to go deep into the tournament, but the brackets are set up in such a way that only one of these all-time awesome programs will get the chance to vie for the coveted Most Memorable title. Me-TV will honor the winner with a marathon of specially selected episodes from that program.

By design, shows of similar genres go head-to-head early on, giving viewers such classic first-round matchups as “Lost in Space” vs. “Star Trek,” “The Bob Newhart Show vs. “M*A*S*H” and “The Twilight Zone” vs. “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.” This is not a tournament for the faint of heart.

Other first-round pairings include “Cannon” vs. “The Rockford Files,” “Batman vs. Wonder Woman” and “Petticoat Junction” vs “Rhoda.”

To join Punditty in taking part in the action, just go to the Me-TV website, set up an account and make your picks. May the best show win!
