Kurdistan leader Massoud Barazani announced that the security agreement issue was the main headline of talks in his meeting with US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice in Washington. However, the Kurdish leader did not specify following the meeting amendments proposed by Iraq on the draft agreement of US Forces presence in Iraq. Barazani added that he discussed with Rice as well Turkish shelling on northern Iraq targeting PKK bases.
For his part, US State Department spokesman Robert Wood affirmed that Barazani and Rice evoked Kurdistan regional government’s support to the security agreement and cooperation efforts by the regional government with Turkey on the issue of Kurdistan Workers Party. He added that Rice urged Barazani as well on easing the Parliament approval on the oil law halted for more than a year.
