The Walking Dead returns to television on Feb. 9 and there will be some major changes. Here is a look at what you can expect from the second half of the season, as well as some minor Walking Dead spoilers when it comes to new characters.
First off, there will be four new characters introduced onto the show: Abraham, Eugene, Rosita and Gareth. The first three are all from the comic books but the fourth is a new character, although creator Robert Kirkman hinted that he may be based on someone from the comics loosely. Kirkman also said these three characters will change the dynamic of the show.
Abraham is a former Army sergeant, Eugene is a former science teacher who claims he knows how to beat the zombie virus, and Rosita is more of a caregiver than a fighter. How they show up, and which group they show up with, is still unknown.
Of course, that is because the prison life ended tragically when The Governor broke down their fence and killed Hershel, before dying himself. That caused the zombies to get in and everyone ran – getting split up in the process. Kirkman said that he is not even sure if everyone will get back together. However, one spoiler that was leaked by actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, is that baby Judith is dead and won’t be back.
The show did the smart thing by killing Judith off screen and now the cast will have to deal with her loss. Also, they are split up, so Rick, Daryl, Tyreese, and in the distance Carol’s roles will drastically change. How they deal with this and who they become will be a large part of the final half of this season.
The most recent Walking Dead spoilers are from actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie on the show. She said that the second half of the season will feature some “filthy, gory, nasty zombie action.” For people tired of the human drama, this should be a welcome reprieve to the mindless slaughter of the walking dead.
