A bus crashed into a lorry driving on the wrong side of the motorway, leaving at least 18 people killed in Argentina. The crash occurred as the bus was heading towards the western city of Mendoza.
The truck which had a Brazilian license plate was stolen and being driven at high speed, local reports said. A driver video recorded the incident showing the lorry driving on the wrong side of the Number 7 national road minutes before the collision.
Majority of the victims, including the bus driver, died as the bus and the lorry exploded into flames when it crashed. A number of passengers made frantic attempts to escape the flames, leaping off the vehicle’s windows.
Authorities reported that there were thirty people travelling on the bus. It had left from the city of Cordoba, about 660km (410 miles) northeast of Mendoza.
