The NFL Slapped Mike Tomlin on the Wrist for his Disgusting Behavior

The NFL fined Mike Tomlin $100,000 today for standing in the field of play and interfering with Jacoby Jones during last Thursday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Tomlin was seen on the video following the controversial play, smiling and smirking. As the play was developing you could see Tomlin looking over his shoulder. He then moved out of the way at just the right moment.

It is obvious to me that Tomlin's actions were intentional. I believe Tomlin cheated. I believe that his actions during and after his cheating actions were pathetic and disgraceful. Tomlin is on the rules committee, so he knows the rules.

He should have been held to a high standard. At the minimum he should have been both suspended and fined. What would I have done? I would have suspended Tomlin for the remainder of the season without pay and fined him $250,000.

I think that my penalty would have sent a message to all coaches and teams that cheating will not be tolerated. The NFL is lucky that Jones wasn't hurt on the play.

The NFL dropped the ball here. They had a golden opportunity to hand out punishment that was decisive and sent a message to Tomlin and other cheats.

The NFL fines players left, right and center for what the NFL believes are rules violations. The punishment is meant to curb behavior that is dangerous and detrimental to the game.

I believe that Tomlin's actions were dangerous. They were damaging to the game. The NFL's reputation was put to the test when Tomlin decided to act like a scumbag. The NFL could have ensured that its reputation would stand the test of Tomlin's disgusting behavior.

I think it was too much for me to expect that the NFL would actually do the right thing here. We're talking about Roger Goodell. The guy is inconsistent in his handling of penalties that are handed out to rules violators.

Remember Bountygate? Goodell threw the book at Sean Payton by suspending him for one year. I think that was the right decision. If I were a Saints fan I would feel that my team was jobbed by Goodell. I would be upset that Tomlin was let off the hook for his pathetic and disgusting behavior

Tomlin made a mockery of the game and what did the NFL do to penalize him? Basically they did nothing. I don't think that a $100,000 fine does much to send a message to other coaches. I bet that Tomlin had the same smile and smirk that he had during his infamous cheating play after he learned about his joke of a fine.

I guess it was too much for me to think that the NFL would send the right message to Tomlin and other coaches. The NFL fumbled away their reputation and they will have a tough time recovering it.
