Oregon Football Rose Bowl Highlights

Going into Week 13 of BCS rankings, Florida State and Alabama are still clearly on course for BCS National Championship Game showdown comes January 6 in Rose Bowl, Pasadena, Calif.

One more team from the top five suffered a damaging loss last week when Stanford fell to USC for their second loss of the season. This came as a surprise a week after a gutsy win over Oregon.

But the circus doesn't stop there, going into week 13, Oregon is projected to get therre second Rose Bowl trip in three years but they lost to Arizona 42-16 on Saturday droping them 9-2 and 6-2 on Pac-12. The Wildcats acted as spoiler that ended the Ducks' hope in BCS bowl games.

At same day, Stanford which looks dropping their chances to appear for BCS game easily wins against Cal Bears to improve 9-2 and 7-2 Pac-12. Stanford therefore are back in the hunt for the Rose Bowl as they regained top seed for Pac-12 conference.

With two playing week remaining teams are jockeying for position to acquire automatic bids as conference champion. Based previous my last BCS bowl projection report,

“Six teams receive automatic bids as conference champions, leaving four “at-large” bids for the BCS bowls to fill, which are chosen in a “draft” format. Teams will be eligible for selection if they finish the season ranked in the top 14 in the final BCS standings and have at least nine victories.”

Here are College Football BCS bowl projection and analysis based on BCS ranking results.

Rose Bowl - Michigan State vs Stanford (Big Ten vs. Pac-12) — January 1 in Pasadena, Calif.

As projected by ESPN going to Week 13, Michigan State (10-1, 7-0 Big Ten) represents Big Ten is on course collision with Stanford (9-2, 7-2).

Michigan State clinched a spot in the Big Ten title game with a 30-6 victory over Northwestern on Saturday afternoon topping in the Legends. Spartans reached the conference title game for the second time in three years are eyeing their first trip to the Rose Bowl in 26 years.

Oregon however lost to Arizona in a stunning 42-16 upset on Saturday, while Stanford easily won against Cal Bears. This means Stanford contention for the Rose Bowl is very much alive. The Cardinals faces Notre Dame on Saturday while Ducks takes on Oregon State.

The Spartans will likely play Ohio State Buckeyes (10-0, 6-0) for Big Ten conference title which easily wins against Indiana. Buckeyes battle on Sat, Nov 30 against Michigan also compete for Rose Bowl.

Fiesta Bowl - Oklahoma State vs Fresno State (Big 12 1 vs. At-large 3) — January 1 in Glendale, Ariz.

The BCS ranked No.4 Baylor lost to No.10 Oklahoma State (10-1, 7-1) and now leads in Big 12 conference as projected to face Fresno. The Cowboys can win the Big 12 by beating rival Oklahoma at home in two weeks. Meanwhile, Fresno State leads the Mountain West with (10-0, 7-0 MW) extend their undefeated record by beating New Mexico on Saturday and faces San Jose State on Fri, Nov 29.

Sugar Bowl - Missouri vs UCF (SEC No.2 vs. At-large 2) — January 2 in New Orleans, La.

Missouri and Auburn came up as projected opponents against University of Central Florida (UCF) for Sugar Bowl showdown. It’s either be Missouri or Auburn as SEC replacement of Alabama as the Tide goes to national title. But odds are on Missouri since Auburn faces huge test against Alabama nextweek.

Texas A&M lost to LSU dampen the Aggies hope for BCS bowl games

Aside from UCF football, Louisville is also contending for Sugar Bowl spot but has a slim chance with their current ranking at No. 21.

Orange Bowl - Clemson vs Ohio State (ACC No.2 vs. At-large 1) — January 3 in Miami, Fla.

Going into Week 13, Clemson Tigers (9-1, 7-1 ACC) came out as replacement for Florida State in the ACC but if the Seminoles clear it’s route for the national title. Tigers can play against Wisconsin for the Orange Bowl current projection. The Tigers has a big win against Citadel on Saturday and must win on Sat, Nov 30 against South Carolina.

Aside from Rose Bowl, Ohio State is also contending for the Orange Bowl spot. Although the Badgers easily wins against Minnesota on Saturday should climb up in the top 14 teams to remain in contention. The Badgers faces Penn State on Sat. Nov. 20.

BCS National Championship Game - Alabama vs Florida State (BCS 1 vs. BCS 2) — January 7 in Pasadena, Calif.

Alabama vs Florida State is still on course for national title game. The Tide beat Chattanooga on Saturday lead by AJ McCarron who threw for two touchdowns 49-0 victory. Tide will face Auburn on Sat, Nov 30. This are game are in the bag which makes Alabama to get their second trip in a row to the national championship.

Alabama clear opponent is Florida State for 2014 BCS National title game. Despite the ongoing sexual assault investigation, FSU rookie quarterback Jameis Winston finding solace in his game tossing 4 touchdown. Florida State made history in scoring 80 points as Seminoles obliterated Idaho in 80-14 beat down.

Despite the win, the cloud of controversy still lurking as State attorney Willie Meggs said Saturday it is unlikely that a final decision will be made before Thanksgiving on whether to charge the quarterback as ESPN reported.

In ACC rule, any player will be automatically suspended once the certain player is charged on court. Seminoles has an easy schedule in their last two games but who will be the quarterback if Winston is suspended.

They will play against against Florida on Sat, Nov 30 and if Winston will be suspended and FSU will lose that game, Ohio State can easily replace at No.2 in the BCS ranking as new projected opponent against Alabama in the BCS National Championship showdown.
