Miss Venezuela Maria Gabriela Isler has won the title of Miss Universe 2013. About one billion people worldwide watched her being crowned as Miss Universe 2013. The 62nd Annual Miss Universe Competition was held at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.
Venezuela is steadily making its name as the country with the most beautiful women. Isler is the seventh woman to take home the prestigious title of miss universe. After she was announced as Miss Universe 2013, Venezuelans started celebrations with jubilant tweets.
Isler, 25, is a college graduate with a degree in marketing and a taste for flamenco dancing and baking. She is from the town of Maracay, which is situated outside of Caracas, the country's capital. Gabriela Isler impressed the judges with her beautiful looks, her toned body, her confidence and her intellect.
Thomas Roberts, anchor of MSNBC Live and Melanie Brown, host of America's Got Talent, hosted the Miss Universe 2013. The panel of judges included; Aerosmith's singer,; Chef Nobu, figure skater, Tara Lipinski; TV personality, Carol Alt; supermodel, Anne V; supermodel and entrepreneur, Farouk Shami; businessman, Italo Fontana and Russian pop star, Philip Kirkorov.
Steven Tyler also took the stage for a special performance. Moreover, other performances included those by Grammy-nominated band Panic! At The Disco and international recording artist EMIN.
Beautiful women from 86 countries competed in the Miss Universe pageant in the categories of swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The first runner-up was Miss Spain, Patricia Yurena Rodriguez while the second runner-up was Miss Ecuador Constanza Bsez. The beauty pageant competition concluded when Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo, crowed her successor.
The news was greeted with a lot of joy by all the Venezuelans, as it came amidst a time of crisis for the country. Currently, Venezuela is marred with a lot of problems; inflation is running at a two-decade high, salaries are low, the currency is corroding and there are shortages of basic necessities. Despite such difficulties, the country manages to produce excellent beauties, which exuberates confidence and intellect.
Within minutes of Isler's crowning in Moscow, President Nicolas Maduro sent his congratulations over Twitter, celebrating her performance as a "triumph for Venezuela."
Maria Gabriela Isler will take-up her duties as Miss Universe for a year and will live in New York till the time her tenure.
