Fresh off the heels of an extraordinary international tour of more than 20 countries, Celine Dion launched the North American leg of her Taking Chances World Tour at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden on August 12th. City by city, Dion's epic performances and incredible stage show continue to delight fans and critics alike. Accompanied by a visual feast of color, fashion, dance and surprise, the tour features an intimate in-the-round stage design, which offers fans a dazzling 360° view of the show. Winding its way throughout the US and the singer's native Canada, the 67-date North American tour is scheduled to culminate with its 11th Montreal show on February 15th, 2009.
The critics agree, Celine's tour is a smash hit.
"(Dion) arrived in Toronto with a massive spectacular that challenges every other road show out there. All of which seems a tad ironic really, given that it is always completely about the voice, and the songs she performs with it. … and it's still possible to luxuriate in wonder at the incredible gift that is Dion's voice."
-- Alan Niester, Special to The Globe and Mail
"Dion brings a feeling to the crowd that anything's possible - from her unwavering voice to her life story." -- Lauren Beckham Falcone, Boston Herald
"Celine Dion sparkles, through lustrous threads and luminous vocal cords."
--Sarah Rodman, The Boston Globe
Directed by acclaimed choreographer Jamie King (Madonna's Confessions World Tour, Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics World Tour, Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca World Tour), this spectacular live concert event features Celine's biggest hits, along with songs from her recent English-language album Taking Chances, which was released on Columbia Records in November 2007. Taking Chances is Dion's first full-length studio work since 2003's multi-platinum One Heart.
Having sold over 200 million units around the world since her American debut in 1990, Celine Dion is one of the most successful performers in pop music history. In addition to numerous US and international gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications, Dion has seen two of her albums -- Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love -- each achieve RIAA Diamond status in recognition of sales of more than 10 million copies in the US alone (each selling 30 million worldwide). Throughout her career Celine has been honored with over 1,000 awards, including five Grammy Awards; 1996's Album of the Year and Best Pop Album; 1998's Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance as well as the World Music Award for the Biggest-Selling Female Artist of All Time, among many others.
