Danvers Massachusetts. A 14 year old male student who allegedly stabbed his math teacher to death. The deceased body of the school teacher was found in the woods near Danvers High School on Wednesday.
Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said the name of the deceased math teacher is Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover whose body was found in a wooded area behind the high school.
The suspect will be arraigned on a charge of murder. His name was not released to the public due to his age.
Blodgett said the police started to investigate the case when Ritzer did not return to her home. She was reported missing on late Tuesday evening when she did not answer calls to her cellphone.
Investigators found blood inside a second floor bathroom inside the high school. They found her deceased body shortly.
The suspect did not return to his home after school. He was reported missing on late Tuesday evening. He was seen walking on a road in Topsfield about 12:30am Wednesday.
The suspect will be arriagned in juvenile court. The proceedings will be closed to the public.
Blodgett did not say how Ritzer died. He called her death a "terrible tragedy."
Blodgett said there is no public safety danger. He said he believes there are not any more persons involved in the death of Ritzer.
Due to the death of Ritzer, all public schools in Danvers have been closed on Wednesday.
Ritzer is the second school teacher who died this past week in the United States.
On Monday a public school teacher was killed when he was allegedly shot in Sparks Nevada by a 12 year old student who killed himself.
