Thecase is one that inspires a lot of passionate feelings whether you believe she's guilty of murdering her former flatmate or not. In fact, seldom do debates about her presumed guilt remain friendly -- especially when it comes to how blindly rabid her supporters can be. That's why they're often referred to as the Knoxy Fan Club, but could these trolls really be the product of nothing more than online PR behavior? It seems a little far fetched to believe that anyone affiliated with Knox's PR people (which have been heavily responsible for misleading American public about facts on this case), but some recent events make it seem more likely than ever.
A young woman named Alison Gogarty contacted me with a string of vile and hateful comments -- something I am used to getting as a public figure in the criminal justice industry. My coverage of the Amanda Knox case, as well as my opinions on her guilt, have garnered the hatred of many-the-supporter of the Seattle woman. Alison stands out because of her last name and her apparent deep attachment to Amanda's case, however. You see, the PR firm in charge of Knoxie's whole popularity push in the U.S. is called Gogerty Marriott.
Isn't this a little convenient -- That a woman with the same name as Knox's PR group contacted a famed criminal profiler associated with this case with a string of hateful and bullying words? It's not surprising to see rabid supporters of Amanda's behave in this manner, but shocking that someone who shares the same name as her PR firm chose to contact a public figure with such hateful comments!
Alison Gogarty has apparently removed her Facebook page, which is likely for the best. That's especially if she's at all related to Bob or Pat Gogerty (two members of Team Gogerty-Marriott!) If you think Gogarty's comments were bad, click here and read the borderline antisemitic remarks of another rigid fan of Amanda Knox.
