Karachi: An Etihad Airlines passenger jet made an unscheduled landing at a Pakistani airport Wednesday after a note warning of a bomb on board was found in the toilet, officials said.
No explosives were found on the plane during the stop in Karachi and the craft was cleared to continue its journey to the Pakistani capital, said airport police chief Abdul Qayyum Patasi.
The plane with around 190 passengers on board was en route from Abu Dhabi.
A passenger found the note in the toilet and informed cabin staff, said Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Pervez George.
Pakistan has been hit by a rash of bloody bombings by Islamist militants in recent years, including last month's attack on the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. Bomb threats that turn out to be hoaxes are also common.
