Obama a 'Snob' for Supporting College Education - Rick Santorum

Former presidential hopeful Rick Santorum criticized his fellow Republicans for ignoring American working class and representing only the “job creators.”

His powerful speech comes amid speculations that Santorum is eyeing a bid for the White House once again, after dropping out of the Republican primaries in 2012.

“There’s a group of folks, interestingly enough, from those on the right of the Republican Party joining those on the left of the Republican Party saying we need to talk about more of one thing and we need to talk about less — or not at all — about other things,” Santorum said at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa.

He said that merely praising free market economics and celebrating entrepreneurship is not enough. We also need to talk about the Americans who don’t make it to higher educational institutions and get a chance to own huge enterprises.

“We are missing something in that message,” he continued. “I talked about it during the campaign all over the country — something that a lot of folks didn’t really capture when they said, ‘Well, how did he do so well?’ I mentioned that over two thirds of Americans don’t go to college, very few of them are going to be entrepreneurs and run big companies. We need to talk to them too. We need to celebrate them. We can’t just celebrate the job creators, we have to celebrate the job holders.”

Santorum further said that in 2012 all Republican presidential hopefuls gave credit to the people who were helping the economy by offering employment opportunities to Americans, but they totally ignored the workers, who fulfill those vacancies.

Despite panning President Barack Obama during the Republican primaries in 2012, Santorum said that the president went out of his way to talk to such individuals - which is something he appreciates about Obama irrespective of the differences in their ideologies. Santorum also advised Republicans to pay more attention to cultural issues despite several Republicans calling them “losing issues.”

“They say we need to talk less about the culture, because we’re losing,” Santorum said. “It’s a losing issue for us and therefore we need to talk less. Now, the people that do this are the very same people who never wanted to talk about culture in the first place.” He said instead Republicans should double their efforts on wars over social issues.
