Erica Lynn Parsons, a slight-framed 15-year-old girl, wasn't reported missing until she had been gone for two years -- an act her so called family appears to be defending. The latest claims surrounding her case indicate that the girl was a voluntary runaway who refused to come home -- as if that's ever been a logical reason to not report a child missing. The family of this missing teen have some serious explaining to do, but it's even more hopeful that investigators are taking a very long hard look at these people.
There are numerous things that need clarification in this case. For starters, just how old was this teen when she vanished from her home. Media reports indicate that she is 15, but are these reports writing from the point of her disappearance or now? If she would now be 15, then this would indicate that she was only 13 when she vanished. If she was 15 when she vanished, why are we still hovering on this age? Is it likely that the missing teen is dead?
It should be shared that the missing teen's adoptive parents have hired a lawyer to represent them -- supposedly because police interviews were turning "accusatory." Does that mean they are being considered suspicious by investigators? That would not be the least bit surprising since they waited two years to report the teenage girl missing.
It would be disappointing if this case turns out to be a murder, but it wouldn't be surprising. Here's to hoping this teen is found soon so justice -- if necessary -- can be served.
