Anyone planning to hit the coasts of Britain any time soon should reconsider. Flocks of up to a 100 killer whales at a time are being spotted on the British seas and water lovers are thus advised caution.
The notorious predators can even feast on great white sharks and blue whales, consuming about 4 percent of their body mass a day while racing around at 30 miles per hour.
Kille whales have been rare in this region since the 1960s. Scientists suspect that burgeoning populations of herrings and mackerel in these waters are drawing the whales further south than usual.
Scientists have used aerial photography and tracking mechanisms to conclude that it is the same whales that frequent these waters. They have even marked out a group of whales that has made areas of the coastline its permanent home.
