This is an Allvoices exclusive: Missing woman Amber Lowery still hasn't been located, but her friends and loved ones have come forward and offered some information exclusively for this article. However, their comments paint a frightening picture that indicates this missing woman could be dead -- murdered by the hands of someone close to her. If these claims are true, it's absolutely mind-blowing that more media sources haven't given this disappearance attention. This missing woman needs to be found, and if she's a victim of homicide justice needs to be served.
Two different loved ones have spoken to me about Amber's case, but they have both asked for their identities to be protected -- and for good reason. It appears that several family members and friends of the missing mom are suspicious of her husband -- who has allegedly been physically abusive to her in the past. One friend of the missing woman said this:
"Her husband liked to use her as a punching bag, and had even driven from Texas to Missouri to beat her hard enough to break her nose and blacken her eyes. The big question is really going to be where he hid the body. I don't think anyone who knows the couple has a single doubt about what happened or who did it."
A relative also said that it's her belief that her husband "knows where she is," and that everyone is aware of all that he has allegedly done to her already. These comments being shared by her loved ones only add to the suspicion that was expressed in this previous Allvoices article about her car being located.
If her husband has played an active role in her disappearance, it's only a matter of time before detectives close in on him. However, it needs to be noted that this case is crawling at a snail's pace. There have still be no official ground searches for Amber, other than those that the family has personally coordinated on their own. There is also a stark lack of coverage by the mainstream media that almost seems like a slap in the face to all domestic violence survivors. If this woman is a victim of domestic abuse like her loved ones claim, then her disappearance should be at the front of the headlines. Here's to hoping this post helps propel it where it needs to go.
