World Trade Center postcard

A retired admiral passed this postcard along to Punditty, thinking his readership would find the image interesting.

There is no date on the flipside, but we do learn that the photo is copyrighted by Bill Frei and that the card was printed in Italy. The short bit at the top of the card reads:

"NEW YORK CITY: Manhattan and the Hudson River at dusk. New York City, one of the largest cities in the world, is a city of commerce and skyscrapers."

Perhaps in a moment of artistic inspiration, Bill Frei decided to position himself so as to have one tower perfectly aligned with the other, creating the illusion of a single skyscraper.

Or perhaps there was a photoshop misundertanding in Italy.

Either way, The Admiral - who lived in New York City at one point during his military career - said the image brought back a flood of memories. He asked that Punditty share it with his readers under the headline "What's wrong with this picture?"

"I wish there was a way of knowing how many of them saw right away that there was only one tower on the postcard," he said. "Some people have short memories."

There may be no way of knowing, but if you didn't know what was "wrong" with the photo at first glance, now you do.

May the victims of the 9/11 attacks rest in peace.
