At first, Punditty thought he was seeing a group of several bushes that produced tiny berries. But as he approached to get a closer look, he saw that what he had thought were berries were, in fact, tens of thousands of ladybugs. Fortunately, he had his trusty digital camera with him during this Sunday afternoon hike at Redwood Regional Park in Oakland, Calif., and was able to take some very good pictures.

According to http://www.geocities.com/sseagraves/ladybugfacts.htm, there are more than 5,000 varieties of ladybugs worldwide, 400 of which live in North America. That Web page also reports that between 72,000 and 80,000 ladybugs can fit in a gallon jar.
