LANDIKOTAL: A suicide bomber killed and an oil tanker carrying fuel to Afghanistan received minor damages when the alleged suicide bomber blown himself up near Michini checkpoint on Pak-Afghan highway here on Thursday at 2:35pm.however, no civilian casualty occurred in the incident.

The suicide bomber, who later identified as, Qari Ajman, 32, son of Khair Muhammad Afridi, resident of Bahadarkhel Afridi Landikotal, explode himself when the road was jammed due to heavy traffic between Landikotal-Torkham on Pak-Afghan highway. According to eye-witnesses, who were traveling in a mini coach said that, the suicide bomber was riding a jeep but the road was closed due to over rush of vehicles started running toward the oil tankers jammed on the road and exploded near an oil tanker. However, Administrators of Landikotal were believed that the suicide bomber was tried to target the convoy of oil tankers at the Torkham border’s parking lot, carrying oil supply into Afghanistan for NATO and US-led force, missing the target due to heavy traffic jam on the road. It was also learnt that the man, who killed himself was fixing a bomb beneath the oil tanker which was mistakenly exploded and killed him on the spot. Official of Landikotal administration said that the bomb was not much intensified, as a score of passenger coaches, containers’ trailers and oil tankers near- by on the road remained safe in the in blast. Soon after the incident, security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area and closed down all the entrances and exits to Landikotal bazaar for vehicles and individuals for some time. security forces collected the body parts and evidents and brought it to Landikotal administration office for official formalities. Then the dead body of alleged suicide bomber was then taken to Landikotal Agency head quarter hospital wherefrom, after identification the dead body was handed over to his heirs for funeral.

Meanwhile, APA Landikotal, Muhammad Tuhab Khan said while briefing the media men at his office that if suicide bomber hit the oil tanker targeted there was a possibility of a huge human loses ,adding, that thousands of litres oil would became a smoke. APA further said that, to reach to the master mind and gang group behind the incident further investigation has been launched in high level.

Later, APA Landikotal called on the Khugakhel Shinwari elders Jirga which discussed the on going situation of Landikotal. No group has so far claimed the responsibility of the incident till filling to this report. After the first of its kind incident in Landikotal people of trigged and closed down their shops in Landikotal because of fear and anxiety.
