Femi Emmanuel, 33, has been such a successful entrepreneur in Nigeria that proceeds of the four volumes of his book have paid for his new car. The most popular volume titled "Touching the Heart Through Unforgettable Text Messages" gives suggestions to tongue-tied lovers on what pick-up lines to use to attract members of the opposite sex.
Femi saw that many Nigerians had access to mobiles but were too shy or too busy to know what to write to people who attracted them. He believed in stepping in to make a difference.
He says he gets much of his inspiration from Bollywood and Nigerian soaps. He recalls watching a Bollywood film where the hero stated "hey baby, i'm a crazy lover". He liked it enough to pause the film and note it down.
He's even come up with a way of transmitting love safely through HIV: H is for Happiness, I is for incomparable love and V says vanish till death do us apart.
BBC recently took to the streets of Nigeria to find out how people felt about this texting culture. Views ranged from 'cheesy' to 'funny' to 'outrageous'.
