Fil-Am gives 49ers superstar a 'banig'-inspired tattoo

The 2013 ESPN Body Issue has released the first preview pictures from their annual “Body Issue magazine. The front cover of this year's edition featured San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick nude body which basically covered with tattoos.

When Kaepernick was asked by ESPN, why his tattoos so important to him, Colin responded, "It's what I believe in. They're part of me. They relate to my faith or things that shaped who I am."

He added, "I didn't just walk into a tattoo shop and say, Hey, I want that thing on the wall. All my tattoos were planned more than a year before I got them. I think if people knew what tattoos mean to people, they wouldn't feel the same way about them."

More and more athletes were drawn putting an ink on their bodies not only male athletes but females as well. Female golfer Carly Booth, 21, also made her nude debut in the issue.

The Scottish golfer tells the magazine that she grew up working out in a homemade gym built by her father who is a wrestler. Booth has five tattoos, including a Shakespeare quote that reads “It is not the stars to hold our destiny, But it is ourselves."

Kaepernick said his favorite tattoo right now is "My gift is my curse," written on the inside of my arm. He explained that his gift of football could also be a curse referring to the limelight which attached to it. He can relate just recently when some 49ers fans mocked him in social media when he was caught wearing Miami Dolphins hat in a party over 4th of July weekend.

The 49er quarterback rose to fame when he led San Francisco to Super Bowl last season. He said, "There are great things I can do in this position, great opportunities, but there are also things I have to sacrifice. For instance, time with my family. And privacy, being able to go to the grocery store or mall and just hang out -- that's not something I can do. It's unbelievable how different it is right now compared to last year. A lot of camera phones, a lot of pictures, a lot of signatures."

Other professional tattooed athletes that graces nude in the magazine are John Wall of Washington Wizard, Sydney Leroux of USA Soccer team, Vernon Davis 49ers Tight end and Matt Harvey Mets pitcher.

The biggest surprise from this year’s issue, which comes out Friday, is 77-year-old nude golfer Gary Player, who don't sports tattoo actually.
