Remember the cinnamon challenge? Now something even stupider has come along and it may potentially be dangerous. It's called the condom challenge and it involves snorting an entire condom before pulling it out of your mouth through your throat. It's a rather disgusting display of idiocy that really takes the cake when it comes to these online "challenges" that go viral.
Whatever happened to cat-breading or planking? Were those challenges not stupid enough? This concept isn't something that is focused on one particular region or a particular culture of people -- but it is something that is sweeping across the entire world among teens and young adults.
It's become such a "thing" that PSA commercials have been made discouraging people from doing it, one of which stars Ellen Degeneres. Naturally the celeb had a funny stance on the horrifying behavior -- and she puts her thoughts across beautifully. There needs to be more coverage on this concept because at least one doctor has deemed this practice dangerous.
Snorting condoms is a dangerous practice that can be potentially deadly. The rubber could wind up lodged in your windpipe or in your lung with devestating results. When foreign objects wind up lodged in lungs multiple things can happen -- including infection-related pneumonia, which can indeed prove fatal.
This isn't the first dangerous thing young people have done to get their kicks, and it certainly won't be the last. What's disappointing is that it has yet to get the media coverage it deserves -- and that's likely because some parents might not believe it's truly something that exists. However, after a few embarrassing deaths relate to this ridiculous activity, someone out there will get more interested in spreading awareness against it.
In a society that punishes healthy human behavior these sort of strange behaviors tend to arise -- or so it seems. These behaviors can also be construed as being nothing more but cries for help from young people who are desperate for attention. The whole condom-snorting craze is reminiscent of Giovanna Plowman sucking on her own tampon while Azealia Banks' "212" plays in the background -- and that's disturbing. If this becoms a trend of one-upping the worst of the worst, then the Internet hs likely run its course as far as intelligent life goes.
