The developers over at Plurk, one of the microblogging sites I most love, have come up with a great way to generate traffic, encourage participation, and learn what people think about the US elections:
They have created a series of special voting pages for each user on Plurk. Each user has the ability to get people to vote in the mini-election via a link. The people who cause the most users to vote via their mini-election wins money. That's a good thing. But for me, the power of this endeavor isn't the contest - It's the content.
Every plurk member who talks about the election or the candidates will see their plurk show up on a special new tab - US Elections 2008. In addition, as people comment on the elections, you can go to your own private election page and see the plurks broken down by candidate.
To me, this is a great way to get the conversation going. I am looking for ideas just as eye-catching and interactive to get the conversation going here on allvoices. My call to action to you: Tell me what would get you involved!
