Philadelphia building collapses killing one woman and injuring at least 13 people (June 5, 2013)

It is so unfortunate that death toll in the Philadelphia building collapse tragedy rises to 6 while searchers have found 14th survivor from the debris. Lucky survivor has been identified as Myra Plekam, 61 whom the searchers pulled alive while combing through the damaged Salvation Army thrift store’s rubble.

Authorities said Myra was pulled late Wednesday while Robert Coyne, the Philadelphia Deputy Fire Chief said early Thursday; the 61-year-old woman was completely alert and talking. However, later it was informed that shifted to a local hospital in an ambulance immediately, Myra remains in critical condition.

Further, the officials have confirmed that at least 6 people have died in the tragic accident that took place at around 10:45 a.m. the other day. Meanwhile, the firefighters and police, joined by other people would still be seen digging through the rubble, slowly and steadily.

It was really tragic to observe a building being torn down, collapsing with a thunderous boom and thus; raining bricks on the adjacent thrift store on Wednesday. Among the dead were five females while one man, informed Mayor Michael Nutter.

However, it still remains unclear whether how many people actually were on the sidewalk or inside the store; at the time of tragic accident.
