Gastric Band/ Lap Band Surgery

In February this year, the New Jersey Governor Christopher James “Chris” Christie reportedly underwent gastric band surgery; however the operation, urged by his family; was kept secret by the 50-year-old. During the surgery aimed on losing weight; Chris was placed a tube around his stomach; to ‘restrict’ the ‘amount of food’ he could intake at the age 50!

Serving since 2010, the 55th Governor of New Jersey reportedly agreed to surgery upon his family’s motivation and advice; they wanted him to be with them; forever. Although the governor didn’t ever disclose his weight but when he appeared at ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in February; he joked about his body size that he said was ‘fair game’ for jokers and comedians.

The father of four revealed "I've struggled with this issue for two decades," adding "For me, this is about growing 50-year-old and looking at my loving children and wishing to be there for them." It was on Feb. 16 when Christie finally underwent surgery that reportedly lasted 40 minutes before he was released from the hospital. However, how much weight the governor lost; remains a secret too!
