president obama talks on boston bomb blast

The Boston Marathon is a prestigious event and one of the oldest marathons in the USA and just when the participants were crossing the finish line, there were two bomb explosions in which 2 persons died and nearly two dozen lost portions of their limbs.

President Barack Obama has said the security would be upgraded and vowed to hold the culprits accountable – it seems there were two more unexploded bombs in the vicinity which have been made inactive.

Mobile phone services have already been shut down in the Boston area to prevent any potential remote detonations of explosives.

Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York, fearing more of the serial bomb blasts, has instructed for security to be stepped up on the city's subway system and at other critical infrastructure.

Nineteen wounded people were shifted to the Massachusetts General Hospital – six of them necessitated emergency surgery.

20 more patients were admitted to the Boston Medical Centre – two of them were children.

This annual event is a marathon of 42-Km and is held on Patriot's Day – this is a state holiday to celebrate the evacuation of Boston by the British during the American Revolution.
