Off Topic: The St Malachy Prophecy...Will The Next Pope Be The Last Pope, Ever?

When the white smoke rises on Vatican chimney, the prophecy of St. Malachy O’Morgair also gathered steam across the internet involving the “last pope” before Judgement Day scenario.

But before that, the 115 Catholic Cardinals that converged at Sistine Chapel has finally elected a new Pope on Wednesday night in Rome. The white smoke rises on the second day of deliveration which signifies that the former Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina was elected. Given name as Pope Francis , he has now the task to lead the 1.2 billion faithfuls of the church in the next coming years.

Pope Francis delivered his first blessing to a large crowd that congregate in St Peter's Square on Wednesday night, asking for the prayers of "all men and women of good will" to help him lead the Catholic Church.

Francis name indicates St. Francis of Assisi's life, after living a life of poverty and simplicity. Pope Francis, speaking Italian with Latin American accent, he told the large crowd before delivering his blessing,

"As you know the duty of the conclave is to give Rome a bishop. It seems that my brother cardinals went almost to the ends of the world to find one." Pope Francis said in his first speech as Pope. Watch video, here.

Moreover on last pope scenario, Nostradamus warned that the next-to-last pope would “flee Rome in December when the great comet is seen in the daytime.” Taking into account few days later after Benedict prepared to leave Rome a shower of meteorites fell and devastated a village in Russia.

Actually Nostradamus prediction is not far of Comet ISON, which is considered as meteor of the century with its 40,000 mile-long tail could light the earth same as the moon and will be visible the next couple months in November. Other signs can't be explained when a lightning struck St. Peter’s Basilica, the very heart of Christianity just hours after Benedict announced he would resign.

Opinion:

History shows that Cardinals choses Italian or European Pope, but on Bergoglio saying the Cardinals choose him from the end of the world on Wednesday speech, he simply implying that they break the tradition by choosing pontiff that resides in far Argentina, situated near the other end of Earth. (Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio is the first Pope chosen from South America or Southern Hemisphere) Latin America represents 42 percent of the world's billion more strong Catholic population.

We don't know if the new pontiff just teasing to break the ice of the anxious crowd. Rueters called it as first joke delivered by the new pope. But why he must deliver a zinger in such a solemn occasion? However, Bergoglio should have been be aware the St. Malachy prediction in year 1139, that mention the next pope after Benedict XVI would be the last and the end of the world will follow.

In the supposed prophecy, there would be 112 more popes from his time to the Apocalypse, even as Benedict XVI is supposedly the 111th pope. The Malachy's vision states, ‘In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed (lead) the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End.’

Bergoglio, 76, born in Buenos Aires is known for his humility, simplicity and concern for the poor. He refused to board in the papal limousine after his appearance on the balcony and chose to take a shuttle bus with other cardinals back to the Vatican residence where they are staying, for an evening meal. Pope Francis style of leadership will be tested when the Church is marred sex scandals among priest and the proliferation of same sex marriage in many countries and other social issues. As to say that Pope Francis is the last Pope, that is remain to be seen in years to come.
