The film is directed by John Stephenson.

Currently being filmed, Boyle's exact role in the film nor an exact release date have been released, but the film is set to be released some time later this year.

Speaking on her participation in the film Boyle said, “everyone on set is a delight to work with and it's a fantastic experience to be part of the team. I'm really enjoying getting dressed in the period costumes and stepping back in time and although it's very cold filming on location, I'm wearing long johns under my bustle.”

Based on the movella by Max Lucado, the movie is being filmed in the United Kingdom and on the Isle of Man.

The youngest of nine children, Boyle auditioned for the British talent show in 2009 after making a promise to her mother. Performing “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserable”, Boyle shocked the world – including the usually unflappable Simon Cowell – with her angelic voice.
