As for the outfits, actress Sally Field was the Lady in Red as she arrived in a stunning tiered red gown with long sleeves, that actually possessed a certain vintage charm, Victorian style—remember she plays Mary Todd Lincoln!
Amy Adams looked sweet in her strapless pearl grey frothy tiered gown as well, and Jessica Chastain too wowed in a strapless gown, beige, with a certain shimmer.
Another strapless gown on Jennifer Lawrence, who wowed in a lovely ivory colored number, while Australian actress Jacki Weaver chose a burgundy fishtailed gown with a short train.
Free-spirited British actress Helena Bonham Carter who loves to wear black did not disappoint in her black and white scoop-necked gown, attending with husband director Tim Burton in his black suit and tie, teamed with a crisp white shirt.
In the boys camp, director Tom Hooper, Dustin Hoffman and Michael Douglas all looked dapper in their dark suits, though not all in tuxedos.
The Oscar nominations include, for Best Actor: Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook, Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln, Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables, Joaquin Phoenix in The Master, and Denzel Washington in Flight.
For Best Actress, Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty, Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook, Emmanuelle Riva in Amour, Naomi Watts in The Impossible and Quvenzhané Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Best Supporting Actor nominations include Alan Arkin in Argo, Robert De Niro in Silver Linings Playbook, Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Master, Tommy Lee Jones in Lincoln and Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained.
The Best Supporting Actress nominations will go to Amy Adams in The Master, Sally Field in Lincoln, Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables, Helen Hunt in The Sessions and Jacki Weaver in Silver Linings Playbook.
Best Director nominations include Michael Haneke for Amour, Ang Lee for Life of Pi, David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook, Steven Spielberg for Lincoln and Benh Zeitlin for Beasts of the Southern Wild.
For Best Picture, nominations are Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty.
Also attending the 85th Annual Academy Awards stylishly were Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Hudson, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Helen Hunt and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
