This article unmasks several lies, contradictions and unquestioned conventions. If there must be more coverage of this sordid incident--and the celebrity-crazed society drives ever more Pistorious coverage--then let it follow this example.

IMHO there is no way this guy can get a fair trial now. The bail hearing has become as a trial. Yes Oscar should be treat like any other suspect. Until he is convicted though he is just that, a suspect.
Reeva and her loved ones should be shown respect. RIP

He can get a fair trial because they don't have jury trials. A magistrate will handle it. One of O.J.'s lawyers, Robert Shapiro, was interviewed on U.S. network news tonight. He said whatever mistakes the detective made will mean nothing to a judge. Same for all the publicity. The judge will rule based on the evidence confirmed in court. O.J. did not get bail when he was on trial for murder. As for treating him like any other suspect, as the Women's League of the ruling African National Congress says, put him in prison instead of the police station, like any other subject would be. Also limit visits. Now it is come and go for his friends, family and lawyers. And Britain should send Shrien Dewani back to South Africa to be tried for hiring a hit man to kill his wife. He is being allowed to stay because he says he is suffering from trauma. Perhaps Assange should have tried that. And he didn't kill anyone.

This leggy guy should be given due process of the law until found guilty. However, he should not be given special treatment, this is unfair to the family of the victim. rated

Here is what Shapiro, who never met a defendant he didn't like, said: "The judge (in the Pistorius case) is going to make one decision. He's not going to say, 'Do I have reasonable doubt?' " Shapiro said.

"He's going to say, 'Do I believe what Mr. Pistorius is telling us? Do I believe that he actually felt that there was a burglar in the house? And that he reasonably believed that his life was in danger if he didn't take action and shoot through a closed door at an unknown target.' "
