CNN’s new boss Jeff Zucker is reportedly about to make some serious changes at the ratings-challenged all-news channel. According to the New York Post, Zucker has already replaced the channel’s star morning anchor Soledad O’Brien with Erin Burnett.

O’Brien, though, has been reportedly ready to leave the network for at least since it did not follow through with its tease to her that she would be given a prime-time slot. Zucker does not cotton to O’Brien’s brand of actual, back grounded and more than two-minute journalistic technique. In short, the lady doesn’t fit into his vision for future of the network.

The Post cites an unnamed “inside” source as saying that, “The deal to move Erin to the morning alongside Chris Cuomo is basically done. Soledad had been told she’d get a prime-time slot, but that hasn’t yet happened, and now she is telling friends she is likely to leave.”

The unnamed source also added: “Soledad is talented at producing in-depth, serious pieces of journalism, and is a tough interviewer. That doesn’t seem to fit the direction the network is going.”

A second source said, “Soledad is a big star, and would only stay for the right show. There’s word there will be a flurry of announcements at CNN very soon, including Erin’s move to the morning.”

Soledad O’Brien has been with CNN since 2003. She is an obviously talented woman, who probably has outgrown the new controlling small-minded folk at CNN.

She will land on her feet no matter what happens. (Don’t expect her to show up at “F-News,” though).

By the way, who names a kid "Soledad," a girl at that? Is she named after the northern California city and its infamous prison, or maybe the city of the same name in Columbia?

It really doesn't matter, though, does it? She's a great reporter/journalist, and none of us named ourselves.
