The Carnival of Brazil, the biggest and most famous carnival in the world kicked off Officially on Friday in the north of the capital city Sao Paulo after King Momo received a key to the city from Rio de Janeiro in traditional ceremony according to AFP.

"The time has come to hand over my duties to magnificent King Momo so that the city may have fun under his rule, let there be peace and joy." said Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes, then King Momo responded saying "I declare the Rio Carnival open!".

The carnival which celebrated since 1723, starts on Friday evening at the Sambadrome Anhembi in São Paulo and ended in early Saturday while the main Rio de Janeiro 2013 Carnival parades will take place on Sunday and Monday nights according to Wikipedia

The Scholars of Tatuapé, the Mancha Verde and Vai-Vai were among seven samba schools parade at the Sambadrome Anhembi yesterday.The dancers marched on streets as usual almost naked wearing their colorful creative costumes.
