Aussies bag top awards in the race to the top of Empire State Building

It was the annual to race to the top of the 86-floors of the Empire State Building in Manhattan, New York and, this year, two Australians bagged the top two awards as reported in of dated 8th of February 2013.

This annual event is organized by the New York Road Runners which also organizes the New York Marathon.

Mark Bourne of Canberra won the race to the top with a time of 10 minutes and 12 seconds.

Fellow Australian Suzy Walsham was 1st in the women's section – her time was 12:05 minutes and, it was her 4th victory.

The 2nd spots in both categories also went to the Aussies – Darren Wilson timed 10:45-minutes and Brooke Logan 12:48-minutes.

There were 700 contestants and they had to run up the 86 flights of stairs consisting of 1576 steps from the lobby to the observation deck of the Empire State Building.
