Elton is a dog that was brought to a shelter to be "put to sleep" because the owner believed he was gay. Thankfully, Elton the dog was spared a death because of the owner's homophobia. Many people have want to adopt Elton. Now, this is how hostile and anti-gay some people are in society, they will execute dogs if they believe they are gay, just like in Uganda some on the Christian right-wing there want to execute gay men.
By the way, Christian right-wingers here in the U.S. have ties to these reactionaries in Uganda. Anti-gay zealots, as I am sure this MENSA candidate does, believe that homosexuality is a choice and not natural. So, did this guy believe the dog chose to be gay? Or only humans choose to be gay? Also, since he believes, correctly, that there are gay non-human animals, could he deny that homosexuality is natural?
Or, only natural to non-human animals? Then again, nobody ever said rabid bigotry and hatred ever made sense. Lastly I wonder, before this guy brought this dog back, did he try praying away the gay of Elton? If so, no more pathetic or sadder sight was ever seen.
By the way, you might be aware that British citizen, the host of a cable television talk show, has come out for gun control. Now, I don't agree with everything Mr. Morgan states, I favor increased gun regulation but probably not to the degree that he does, but it's nice to hear dissenting views.
But over 60,000 people signed a petition to deport him because they despised his views. Since Morgan is not a citizen, this might have been legally possible, but it would have set a horrible precedent. Freedom of speech and the press means a right for Americans to hear views others don't like.
Some Americans want to hear Mr. Morgan out, but a few want to silence him. It's absurd in practice of course, because Piers Morgan can easily host his show from London, but the principle of anti-free speech or anti-freedom of the press would still stand. What if someone tried to silence a conservative foreign commentator, would those who signed this petition have liked that?
Of course not, they would be rightly up in arms. They would be angry and I wouldn't blame them. Those who signed this petition are the ones always talk about the political correctness of the left, well, if this is not political correctness, I don't know what is in fact.
