Taliban commander arrested in Mohmand Agency
GHALLANAI: Security forces have arrested an important commander on Saturday on Ghallanai checkpoint, the regional headquarters. The person arrested has been identified as Pir Muhammad, an important figure of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) belonging to Inzari Miangan area of Mohmand Agency. He was arrested on suspicion on main check point of Ghallanai during search operation when he was bound for home from Peshawar and was later identified as an eminent commander of the banned TTP Mohmand chapter. Security forces of Mohmand Rifles shifted him to their headquarters for further investigation. In another incident, some unknown gunmen kidnapped a military personnel when he was coming home from duty on Eid vacation. The person identified as Zar Muhammad is said to be a resident of Michni area of lower Mohmand and serviceman of Paramilitary forces was coming home on Eid vacation. When he reached Bady, a stronghold of local Taliban, was whisked off by some unknown gunmen and was shifted to undisclosed placed. It is worth-mentioning that fierce armed clashes have been observed in the area between security forces and Taliban three days before that had claimed a dozen lives from both sides.
