Pirates captured off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire, the French oil tanker, carrying 17 crew members are located.

The ship was under the Luxembourg flag. The tanker, owned by the French company, not made contact since Sunday. Name of the vessel is not reported.

Pirates have increased activity off the coast of Côte d'Ivoire after the other West African states increased their patrols of the Gulf of Guinea, where the last time there was a lot of pirate attacks.

In contrast to the Somali pirates, criminals, seize vessels off the coast of West Africa, prefer to steal those on board the cargo instead of demanding a ransom for their release.
