When the heat becomes unbearable, even the koalas that usually avoid contact with humans, pine for water – the elixir of life.
That is probably the reason of why a koala actually came down from a tree and cozied up with a tourist in Adelaide - it drank three bottles of water to quench its thirst.
This has been reported in news.com.au of dated 1st February 2013.
It seems this woman Woo-Hyang Sun was walking through the Black Hill Conservation Park in the Adelaide foothills when her husband saw a koala in a tree and snapped some photos.
After some time, the koala got down from the tree and began following the pair – it looked as if it wanted something and when Mrs Sun gave it water it drank it and wanted more.
It kept following their car through the streets of Athelstone oblivious of the traffic and, finally, it drank three bottles of water before it was satisfied and returned to its trees.
The message of the koala is clear and loud – it has given a notice to us that by destroying the greens we are depriving the animals like koalas of water.
