Suspect shot and killed after she shot a Denver police officer

Denver Colorado. A Denver deputy sheriff was shot on Wednesday morning. The deputy who was shot is in fair condition. His injuries are not life threatening. The suspect was shot an killed by the partner of the deputy who was shot.

Two Denver County Sheriff's deputies arrived at an apartment to execute a felony warrant near the intersection of Tremont and Park Avenue just before 10am on Wednesday.

Investigators in the case said when the deputies arrived at the apartment a woman fired her handgun at one of the deputies hitting him in the hand. The other deputy who was acting in defense of his partner shot and killed the suspect.

The name of the deputy who was shot was not released to the public. Two children who were in the region of the apartment were taken to a hospital as a precaution. The relatioship between the children and the suspect is unclear at this time.

Eyewitnesses said they heard the two children crying and they were shaken up as the suspect was being taken out of the apartment near the crime scene.

Denver police are asking the citizens to stay away from Park Avenue and Washington Street areas while the case is being investigated.
